Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word document file format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; include the title of the article, name of the authors with degree, designation, affiliation, email, and DOI of all authors. All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • Include DOI for the Journal article in Reference section
  • Where available, URLs for the references with the accessed date.

Author Guidelines

The journal promotes multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary studies in the field of ethics in medicine and health care, genetics, law, education, policy, science, social science research, and humanities.   Submit the article with a forwarding latter including a submission declaration that the article has not been submitted elsewhere or is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Authors have to declare the originality of their work and transfer of copyright to the Bangladesh Journal of Bioethics. All material should be submitted online journal platform at

Publication Frequency

The journal is published three times a year in March, July and November.

 

Submission Procesure: 

Articles is published in English language only. Articles should not exceed 5000 words, although longer manuscripts may be accepted. Please contact to Editor beforehand. The word count excludes the title page, abstract, keywords, tables, acknowledgments, and references. All articles are subjected to a peer review system; therefore all manuscripts shall include a cover page stating the title; all authors, professional title, institutional affiliation, telephone number, email address, and DOI of all author. 

Manuscript:

Text shall include  introduction, materials & methods/case presentation, result, discussion and conclusion. Text  shall be double spaced, Arial , 10 Font on A4 paper. Don't include foot note.  Acknowledgements of people, grants, funds, etc. shall be placed in a separate section before the References.  Please include author contribution and conflict of interest at the end of the article.

Referencing:

In-text references shall be numbered with superscript. Reference shall be written within the full stop.  A reference list shall appear at the end of the writing with the entries listed numerically and in the same order that they have been cited in the text. When an article has more than six authors, only the names of the first six authors shall be given followed by 'et al'.  Please include DOI for the journal article and URL with the accessed date for internet content.   Journals follow the Vancouver referencing system as the name(s) of the author(s), the title of the article, the title of the journal, year, volume number (Issues Number), and page numbers. For example:

1. Authors Contribution:

Authors should include author contributions. Each author should disclose publicly to readers what each author does at the end of the manuscript. Author(S) Contribution should be mentioned at the end of the article.

Authorship Criteria:

Authors are those who have substantial intellectual, scholarly contributions to develop the ideas, design, conduct the study, analyze the data, or draft the manuscript and take public responsibility for its contents during any allegation of falsification and misconduct.  The journal follows authorship criteria according to ICMJE.

A single contribution is generally not adequate to justify authorship. Their contribution can be rewarded in the acknowledge section.

Acknowledgment: A single contribution is not adequate to justify authorship e.g the acquisition of funding, providing laboratory space, instrumentation, unusual materials, supervision position of a research group, involvement in patients or animal care, providing patient samples, the collection of data, statistical analysis, editing assistance, proofreading or editing of manuscripts, editors, statisticians, medical writers or translators. Their contribution can be rewarded in the acknowledge section.

Conflict of interest: 

Author/s should declare a conflict of interest (intellectual, financial, or technical) if any before submitting the article. Conflict of interest should be mentioned at the end of the article.

Funding: Author/s should declare the funding of the the research/article at the end of the manuscript.

Charges & Fees Policy:
Publication and full-text materials of Bangladesh Journal of Bioethics are free of cost. The journal does not charge any Article Processing Charge (APC) or submission fees from the author.

 

Complain Procedure:

Author(s) can submit a complaint to Editor regarding conflict of interest, plagiarism and duplication publication with valid documents. Contact for complain: [email protected].

During submission of article the number of author(s) in author byline is final. No request for withdrawel of article by the author(s) is encouraged at the production level.

Peer Review Process

The Bangladesh Journal of Bioethics uses a double-blind peer review process so that the authors and reviewers names are withheld.

Article---Primary review by Editor whether Article is in the scope of this Journal----Reviewer----Author----Reviewer (if author incorporate the reviewer's comments)----Executive Editor----Publication (if every thing is OK) unless it go back to author for corrections.

 

Editorial Decision after external review

  • If the reviewers reject the article we reject it though the Editor dicission is final.
  • If the reviewers give any correction/modification plan we communicate the author to redo and resubmit his manuscript. After re-submission we check whether their re-submission fulfills reviewer’s satisfaction.
  • If all these steps are successfully completed then we send it for publication.
  • Duration of review process: Review process takes around three months.

Proofs: All proofs must be corrected and returned to the publisher as early as possible.
